Finding the Right Dining Table
A dining table is where a home gathers. Choosing one well starts long before you look at finishes.

Written by the AUVRÉN Studio — notes on furniture, materials, and calm, considered living.
The right dining table is less about style and more about how you live. Before choosing a shape or a wood, think about the meals, the guests, and the everyday moments it will hold.
Start with the Room
Allow around 90 cm between the table edge and the nearest wall or piece of furniture, so chairs can move freely and people can pass behind them.
Choose a Shape That Fits
Rectangular tables suit long rooms and larger gatherings. Round and oval tables soften a space and make conversation easier in smaller rooms.
Think About Seating
Plan around 60 cm of table edge per person. Check the clearance between the seat and the tabletop, and the position of the legs, before you fall in love with a pair of chairs.
Pick a Material for Daily Life
Solid oak with a hardwax oil finish is durable, repairable, and grows more beautiful with use. It is our favourite choice for a table that will be used every day.
A Table for the Years Ahead
Buy for the life you have and the one you are moving towards. A well-made table will be there for both.
